About Me Page
John D. Murphy, LMFT
To be honest, I’m a regular guy. I love watching sports and play in a couple fantasy football leagues. Grilling out in the summer has always been a big thing with my friends and family. I’ve normally got a new diet or wellness exercise I’m experimenting with (yoga, ice baths, fasting), though my love for coffee remains true. My leisure hobbies include traveling, reading, weight lifting, and researching stocks. As a millennial, I don’t mind a vidya game every now and then either. Before my time as a therapist, I worked a variety of jobs in the Music Industry and come from a family of performers.
Therapeutic Experience
My clinical work history includes a diverse clientele base, from counseling those in the Tennessee prison system to a university mental health clinic, and my own private practice going 5 years strong. I’ve encountered and treated a wide variety of diagnostic populations. This has also helped me become culturally sensitive and empathetic to struggles I have not personally experienced. So while I’ve seen the works, that doesn’t mean I know your story or get to make assumptions about who you are.

Outside of my practice, I’m still drawn to the opportunity of connecting with people from all walks of life. Authentic connection is priceless and fortunately, if you’re looking, its everywhere. In my opinion its that humanness that’s an integral part of psychotherapy.
My natural personality is curious about stories and obstacles. No matter who you are or where you’ve come from - I know your journey is unique and I would be honored to join you in that process of healing or exploration.
